OMG, my dad is a deadbeat too, if thats what you consider your dad. My dad is not brave enough to put me down because he knows I'll fight back, he's stupid anyway. I suggest that when you see your dad just ignore him and ask for large amounts of money if he wants to talk to you, make him pay upfront because you don't have to talk to your dad if you don't want to. Its your choice and if your dad is cheap like you said give the card back to him and tell him how you felt about a card with only 5 dollars in it, then walk away. My dad got my sister a elctronic dictionary and she is 9 yrs old, but I didn't even see him on my birthday. I seen him one day and he knows how I feel about talking to me, he'de better have money and lots of it. Well anyway, when he seen me the first thig he did was wave money at me, I didn't feel like the bs so I just wondered away. I swear man... I don't even care about my dad anymore, omg you don't know what I went though when I was young with that man dissapereing and shit. Damn him, I hate my dad too man. And its ok to vent here

just curious...but isn't it the thought that counts?

i mean it probably would have been better if he had just sent the card without the 5 dollars...then it would have at least seemed like it was...but hey if you don't like what he does then tell him...its the only way he will change...or not change and then yuou can say you tried...

there is no thught if it is only to keep up images. if you are only gonna show up when the moood strikes you, that's almost worse than not showing up at all.

i wished he would just fucking just leave me the fuck alone!!! he only comes and sees me like once everyone 6 months and every time he comes by he has to put me down even more than i already am! and it pisses me off. u know what i got for my birthday from him?! A FUCKING CARD WITH 5 DOLLORS!!!!! WTF?!?!?

Your dad is behaving badly towards you. Could you talk to him and tell him how you feel?

Could someone talk to him on your behalf?

I'm sorry I can't be of more help but unfortunately we can't change other peoples behaviour only our own. You need to tell your dad that you would like more regular and consistant contact with him(that's if you do)
Even if he doesn't see you you could keep in touch by phone,letter or e-mail. Perhaps there is a reason why your dad can't see you more often.

If you can't talk to your dad why not put your feelings as clearly as you can in a letter to him.

At the end of the day the problem is with him and not with you,
